24-inch AA Sporting Santa from Foleys/Macy's

I just maxed out my 50 free eBay listings for this month with a group of African American/Black Santas, as I am also downsizing my holiday decorations.

This 24-inch Sporting Santa from Foley's (now Macy's) is one of my current eBay listings.

In addition to the free insertion fee, eBay offered up to 12 free photos with each listing. I am not certain if this is a site-wide offering, but if you have something to sell, the free insertions and free images may interest you, too.

  2. This is a first for me. I can't say that I have ever seen a sport Santa. I have two AA santas. They pretty much stay up all year round.

  3. Maybe I shouldn't tell you this while you're downsizing, but last night I found AA vintage repro Ginnys dressed for $25. This is a store that closed and now they're selling their leftover inventory on their website. I've ordered many times from them over the years. Last night I ordered two of the Ginnys even though I already have them. I'm going to dress them in different outfits and then sell the duplicate clothes. I don't know how many they have left, but the shipping on the two dolls was around $9 to Texas which I thought was reasonable. I would E-mail them just to make sure they're still in stock. I'm not sure how often they update the website. I heard back from them immediately after paying by PayPal and my dolls are being shipped on Monday.

  4. Hi Vanessa,

My plan is to only keep my Possible Dreams Santas that are dressed in traditional Santa clothing. I love their realism, their stiffened fabric clothing, and their expressions. The fireman Santa that I have on eBay is like the Possible Dreams Santas, but since his outfit is not traditional, I decided to let him go too, if "possible."

    Hi Betty,

Thanks for the heads-up on Bearzabout's sale. I will share this with others who might be interested. I own several of the vintage AA repro Ginnys already. In fact, I purchased a female reproduction and created an AA boy a year before the company mass produced one which one friend commented looks exactly like the one I made.

  6. Hi Lee,

This Santa is nice. You'd enjoy him. AA Santas, like black dolls are made in fewer numbers than their white counterparts.

Good to "read" from you. You'll have to email me so we can play catch-up.

  7. I had to laugh. I did the same thing. I turned one of my AA Ginnys into a boy by cutting the hair. I couldn't wait for Vogue to finally decide to make one. At $25 those dolls are great buys!

  8. Good for you, Betty! When manufacturers are slow about creating the types of dolls we desire, sometimes we have to do it for ourselves.

Here's a link to what I have labeled the first AA Ginny Boy that uses the reproduction doll mold.

Here's a link to an image of the one Vogue made, which went on to sell out within less than a year.
