Play Along's Sisqo

Sisqo by Play Along, 2001

I found this doll on eBay in February. I couldn't share him until now because he was purchased as a gift for my friend who collects celebrity dolls.

Sisqo has a box date of 2001 and was probably on the market in 2002. I remember seeing an online image of the doll and thinking, "That-does-not-look-like-Sisqo!" Time has brought about a change in opinion. I am now very impressed with his appearance.  Even though he is not an exact portrait of Mark "Sisqo" Andrews, Play Along came pretty close.

The doll has molded blonde braids with black molded roots. He wears a yellow pleather jacket and pants, dragon-themed silver chain necklace, and white sneakers. Visible through the box and his unbuttoned jacket is his shirtless, tattooed chest.

The back of the box contains Sisqo's bio:

Full Name: Mark Andrews
Birthday: 11/9/75
Birth Place: Baltimore, MD

Favorite Performers:  Will Smith and Michael Jackson

First Solo Album:  "Unleash the Dragon"

Awards: Teen People Choice Award;  MTV Video Music Award; and Billboard Award

Collaboration:  Worked on the song and video for Will Smith's hit "Wild, Wild West"
Other Names:  The Golden Child and The Dragon

Now I want one!

    1. Oh man! I didn't even make a height comparison before I shipped him off to his new home. I'm thinking he is more Ken's size than Joe's.

I am not sure if she plans to remove him from the box, but I'll have her send me a comparison picture for a followup post. Great question.

  2. "Let me see that thooonnnggg....baby...that thong the thong thong thong." Sorry, I just couldn't help myself. I actually sang most of the song, but only typed that little bit. I didn't even know there was a Sisco doll. He would be nice to have in the collection. Which brings me to my favorite guy group besides the Jacksons, DRU Hill. Those boys know they could sing. I will not break out into Beauty. I may have to mosey on over to my Itunes. Thanks.

    1. Too funny, Vanessa. I knew about him when he was released but didn't like him then.

Sometimes for me when dolls become difficult to find, the desire for them escalates after I've given them a second look.

      I want this doll!

My friend's celebrity doll collection is so extensive, that it is difficult for me to keep up with what she has or not. I never know if I am duplicating something or not if I haven't picked her brain with subtle questions beforehand. Did you ever find...? I didn't do that with Sisqo.

If he's a duplicate, I'm asking her to send him back to me and I'll give her the $$ I paid for him in return.

      I want this doll!

    1. Hi Georgia Girl,

Yesterday I discover there is another version without braids. I'd like either one or both for myself.

    3. I didn't know that either of these existed. I like the one with braids better. I hope you're able to get him soon Debbie!

    4. Thanks, Roxanne. I'll take either; both would be nice. The search continues.

    1. Thank you for the height information. I guess they made the doll short in stature like the real Sisqo.
