Cute Black Dolls

9-inch all-vinyl babies with expressive faces by GIGO, circa 2008, found at Big Lots in 2010

I received an email from a childcare owner looking to buy "cute black dolls" for his daycare facilities. He explained, "We are looking for dolls that we can use in our childcare centers to teach multicultural ideas and concepts."  Finding the dolls in retail shops has been a challenge.   He and his wife are specifically looking for "cute black dolls."

All vinyl with molded hair, similar to the ones I have featured, and/or vinyl with cloth bodies and rooted, comb-able hair would be ideal for preschoolers.  If anyone can offer leads on where to buy large quantities of black dolls as described, please share the information in a comment.
Thanks in advance!

  2. Thanks, Miss_Lola_77 - I'll share these two links with the couple. I like the ones at the first link better. Thanks for taking the time to check.

    1. Thanks, Vanessa.

I've shared several links with them including Miss-Lola_77's. Hopefully those will steer them in the right direction to locate "cute black dolls."

  4. I have seen these cute little pumpkins at Walmart as well. I don't know of a place where they could purchase quantity. They may wish to try to google for wholesale of the product. I practically google everything. : )

    1. Hi Georgia Girl,

Google is definately my main online search engjne.

I suspect the childcare couple found me through a Google search for "black dolls". African American dolls will offer far more search results using Google and other search engines since this is the terminology used by most merchants.

  5. I haven't seen any, but I kinda avoid the baby doll sections. These two look like they could be the stars of a TV show and they have sassy thoughts and get into all kinds of fun trouble.

    1. Thanks, Muff for your comment. These two look like they could get into a lot of mischief.

  6. I know someone who has the little girl. She got that doll at Big Lots for less than $5, I think.

The Dolls Like Me website is no longer up; it is in the process of being connected to JustLikeMeToys.com. Your friend could contact them at info@justlikemetoys.com .

    1. Thanks for the info on the whereabouts of DollsLikeMe, D7ana. I wondered what happened to them. Their website was one of two that I was going to share with the couple until I found that the DLM website no longer exists. The other website I shared was Pattycake Doll Company.

BTW, the Big Lots dolls are now $6. I was there this past weekend. They had at least a dozen of the babies in different varieties in stock.
