Shoes and Solid Gold Fashion for Janay

I ordered four pairs of shoes for Janay from Facets by Marcia* in three different styles.  Shown above, Janay models a bronze wrap pump, which is so close to brown that I now wish I had selected a different color for the brown platform pump (front left).  An option to paint the brown pumps is under consideration.

In the above image, Janay models the black with red platform patent-leather pumps with a black and red brocade dress formerly worn by Tonner's Tiny Dottie.  Janay took ownership of that dress upon her arrival during the third quarter of this year.

Pleased with the style and color of the black and red pumps, next Janay paired these with her tribal chevron-print dress purchased from Shasha of atelierniShasha.  She finds these to be a perfect match for this dress.

Janay illustrates the fit of the white buckle pump and brown platform pumps.

*Lengthwise, the open-toe buckle shoes and platform pumps from Facets by Marcia are a nice fit.  Due to the doll's high arch, the heels of these two styles tend to slip; the buckle style slips more.  I used clear elastic bands to hold the buckle shoes in place as shown in the photo above.   The bronze wrap style that Janay models in the first image has the best overall fit.

As I was writing this post, my husband handed me a small package containing three pairs of black Stardoll/Monster High shoes ordered from eBay seller, bestqualityforever2010.  Janay illustrates how well these fit her in the next image.

These Stardoll/Monster High shoes are nice for a dressed down look.  The price of $1.99 + $1.98 shipping worked well for me.  I ordered three pairs with the intent to paint the two extras another color.  Thanks for the heads up on these Roxanne.

Janay's Color Infusion Solid Gold fashion

After items from the 2014 Integrity Toys Gloss Convention this past October were revealed, I immediately knew Janay had to own the Solid Gold fashion offered at the convention and shown above. In addition to a gold sequined, lined jacket with matching cami, gold belt, gold satiny shorts, and tan mid-calf boots, the fashion includes three gold tone bracelets and lightning shaped drop earrings.  The shorts have two side pockets with a hook and eye back closure.  The same closure is used for the camisole and jacket.  Selling originally on eBay from $75 up, I was able to snatch it up for $35 after a cooling down, post-convention period.  (Haste usually makes waste while patience saves.)

In the two final images, Janay models her new fashion, first without the jacket and then wearing it.

Color Infusion Janay in Solid Gold fashion, without the jacket (top photo) and with (bottom photo).

She looks as electrifying as I had imagined.

  1. Hi, wow, you got great shoes for Janay! Her new outfit is fabulous, very chic with the jacket and shorts. I like to shop at Marcia's website too, one of my favorites :-).

    1. If anyone is ever looking for shoes for fashion dolls, Facets by Marcia is the place. I've shopped there often as well for 16-inch dolls, but never thought to look for shoes for Janay. I sent her an email I guess in November to see if she carried the smaller size and was very surprised to discover that she does. I will probably order a couple more of the wrap style for Janay since those fit her high-arched feet the best.

  2. Great shoes. I've purchased from Marcia before, but it's been many years. She used to come to some of our local doll shows. She has wonderful shoes and boots. Janay looks great in everything you bought her, especially that outfit. You could probably just give her your credit card at this point, and send her out shopping for herself. lol.

    1. Vanessa,

I guess you can tell by now that Janay is my all-time favorite fashion doll. I actually ordered this year's convention Janay, but sold her shortly after she arrived. I was disappointed to find that her complexion is the exact same as the 2013 doll's. The online photos that I saw, taken at convention, showed her with a deeper complexion. The eBay seller used some of those same photos in her auction and I just knew that my Janay would have a darker twin. Except for the darker hair color and redder lip color, the 2014 doll is the same as my doll. I complained to the seller that her photos were deceptive and she acted a real witch... I mean a real witch, would not accept a refund and told me I should have asked about the complexion if that was my concern. She would not refund my money. I was able to sell the doll to someone else for the same amount I paid so it all worked out.

I really don't need two divas to help me spend my money on fashions and shoes anyway, and you know I'd be in deep trouble if I handed my CC to Janay. I have a strong feeling that she is not as frugal as I am.

    2. The 2014 CI Janay also came with a second set of hands, but that was not enough for me to want to keep her. I wanted a darker version of the doll I already own.

  3. I was about to ask if this was your favorite doll but I scrolled and saw your response to Vanessa. I bet all your other dolls are jealous of the goodies Ms. Janay gets.

    1. Yes, Muff, where fashion dolls are concerned, Janay is the "it" girl here. If they could, I'm sure the others would be shooting daggers at her.

    1. Hi Nicolas,

Thank you for sharing the links to commercials featuring black dolls. At one link (the Winx one, I believe), was the preview for the move, Black and White starring Kevin Costner and Octavia Spencer. That movie looks interesting, although I must admit that I winced in sympathy when Costner attempted to comb his biracial granddaughter's hair! Someone needed to school him on how to (or how not to) comb tightly coiled hair.

  7. You're welcome, Debbie! Janay looks stunning in all of her shoes, and I love the solid gold outfit. I know that Janay can stand in the Monster High shoes - can she stand in all of the others without assistance?

    1. Hi Roxanne,

Janay can stand in the brown platforms, the black/red platforms. She cannot stand in the white buckle shoes. I'll have to get back with you on the bronze wrap shoes. I would think so since they fit the best, but darn it! As I took the bag of shoes out to try on her, I discovered the heel is broken almost in two on one of the bronze wrap shoes. I don't know how that happened. I'll have to Super Glue it or Aleene's Tacky Glue it in place. Insert expletive of your choice here. I am not happy about this.

    2. Thanks for letting me know about the shoes that Janay can stand in, Debbie. I'm giggling a little because I have a hard time imagining you saying the expletive that I would've said had I discovered the broken heel. :) I hope that you are able to easily repair the break! Those bronze shoes are my favorite of the bunch.

    3. I was able to repair the wrap shoes. Janay can stand in them. Funny thing is, it is difficult for me to tell which shoe is the right or the left. I think Marcia mentioned something about this pair being cut for the same foot (after I ordered them and asked about this.)

These are my favorite pair, too, which is probably why I was so upset that the heel broke. That and the fact that they cost $13. It's that feeling you get when you pay more than you should for something for yourself when you had second thoughts about doing so in the first place, only to find that it is damaged or is not as expected. An expletive is warranted... takes away the sting a bit.

      :-)

  8. Janay is working that gold outfit. Great price too by the way. Thanks for the info on Marcia. I purchased a vase of flowers from her years ago when she was here for a doll show. I didn't know that she sold shoes.
