Hip Hoodie Ken Available Now!

Hip Hoodie Ken

Last week when I ordered four (two were ordered by mistake*), Hip Hoodie Kens, the item was on back order. Shipping was free. I just checked availability at ShopMattel.com where he is currently in stock, but quantities are limited. Shipping is still free.  Grab him now if you so desire.

Ebates for Cash Back
Remember that Mattel is an Ebates affiliate.  If you link to their site through Ebates you will receive 2.5% cash back on the purchase.  If you're not already an Ebates member, join using this link.  (And remember to link to other Ebates-affiliated merchants' sites through Ebates whenever you shop online to receive the cash backs they offer.)

*Four Hip Hoodies
My first order for two Hip Hoodies did not appear to go through so I reordered another set of two. A few days later I discovered both orders went through, but fortunately, Paypal did not pay for one.  I cancelled that order and am only going to receive the two that I desired.  Why two?  This is the first different African American head sculpt for Ken that does not have a silly toothy grin.  I will probably keep one in the box, debox and rebody the other.  My body choices will range from a World Peacekeepers body or another appropriate action figure body, like the one shown here if I can find the correct complexion match.

  1. I did order this guy as soon as he was available for order. He is supposed to arrive today! I just checked him on the Mattel site and he is no longer in stock or even showing available to order. ☹. I have an AA Texas A&M Ken in the box waiting for a body swap!

    1. Wow. Quantities must have been extremely limited. It's good you were able to order one before they sold out, Phyllis.

    2. I also have a Texas A&M body waiting. I received a notice that he shipped out on Monday. Can't wait. I even have his lady friend impatiently waiting. She's driving me crazy lol.

    2. For those who may not understand my comment above: My desire remains for an AA Silkstone Ken or AA Silkstone male doll by any other name. I realize that AA Silkstone Barbies exist.

  3. I saw him on another blog just yesterday. I was surprised and impressed. My local Walmart had a whole endcap of Fashionistas, including the new ones. I didn't know he existed at the time, so I didn't check to see if they had him. He is not in stock on Mattel.com, so I will check locally. I did finally sign up for ebates, though. Hopefully that won't increase my spending habits.

    1. He might have been at your Walmart, Vanessa. He would work well in your stories. I can see him as a boyfriend for one of your collage-age characters or maybe a stepson of someone. He'd be a heartthrob, no doubt.

I often forget to link to sites through Ebates, but lately I have been remembering. Target, J C Penney, Dillards, eBay, Amazon, Shop Mattel and several other merchants are affiliates. If am am going to spend money online, I might as well receive cash back. One friend said she received $1500 in cash back from Ebates last year. I don't spend that much online, but since my several-year Ebates membership, I have received over $400 in cash back.

When I remember, before I make a purchase, I check to see if anyone who is an Ebates affiliate has what I need; or when I know they are an affiliate, I link to their site through Ebates to get the cash back. You don't have to link to the site before items are carted. As long as you link to the site before you check out (you can have items in your cart; leave the site, go to Ebates and link back to the site) and still receive the cash back.

    2. I was also going to pick one up for my 8 yr old dolly neighbor. She's getting the new Barbie House for Christmas and it would be nice to have a new handsome man to go with the house. I can't find him anywhere available on-line right now. I did find a couple of the new fashionistas and the cupcake doll at Amazon for $4.98 each. You know I didn't need them, but who could pass up that price. Thanks for all the ebates info.

    3. This guy would be perfect for your 8 y/o neighbor's Barbie House. You can click the "more ways to buy" on Hip Hoodie's buy page at Shop Mattel to see if there are stores based on your zip code that show availability. It bothers me when toys in demand are never available when desired. You know they made enough. They are just not distributed properly. I think they stage the distribution to create these demands.

      Here is the the link.

  7. That's a cute guy. Thanks for telling us about him. Since he sold out so fast but the mold already exists maybe they'll make more after the holidays. He would be even more perfect in Silkstone.;-)

  8. That is great that you got him Debbie! I was hoping to find him at Walmart tonight. I picked up a few of the new Fashionistas but he was not one of them. I also plan to rebody him when he comes to reside here. He is very handsome and my girls are anxiously awaiting him.

    2. He looks a lot like Gary Dourdan, when he was on CSI, to me. Different coloring but similar features except that the doll has more pillowy lips.

    3. That's interesting that you see Gary Dourdan in HH. That's not who I am seeing, but it will come to me.

    1. Yes, I know that AA Silkstone "Barbies" exist; I own three. My desire is for an African American Silkstone "Ken." Over 2000 people share this desire as proof of their signatures on the petition to Mattel I created to produce one. If you too would like to own an AA Silkstone "Ken," or AA Silkstone male by any name that uses a new head sculpt, please sign the petition, the link to which can be located in the sidebar to the left of my blog. Thank you!
