  1. She's a pretty doll. I checked her out after seeing your post and I like that she overcomes stuttering through poetry.

    1. You are welcome, GG! A long time coming, she is preceded by 14 previous AG GOTY dolls, and is the first African American in this category.

  3. I have been waiting for a black GOTY for years. While the doll is pretty and has a decent story, I am upset that she is nothing more than a repackaged Truly Me #46. I feel like it is racism. If you look at other GOTY dolls in previous years, they always have a distinct look that has never been seen before in the line. They didn't put any effort into this doll at all and it shows.

    1. You are not alone in your disappointment Hairless Cat. The fact that AG used the same head sculpt that was used on both Melody and Cecile Ray (which I believe is the Sonoli head sculpt) is proof that very little thought went into the design of their first AA GOTY. They could have been more creative with her story. It would have been easy to give her a cause to champion such as quality education in inner city schools, racial profiling, police brutality, and other issues affecting the African American community. First and foremost for me, I would have preferred a different (and not an Addy) head sculpt.
