Saving Baby Nancy

This is how Baby Nancy arrived.

Baby Nancy's shattered condition upon arrival prompted me to devise a plan to make her whole. Initially, I was going to use a form of papier-maché to repair the vinyl body, but I had to piece it together like a puzzle first.

The video below describes the repair process using micropore tape, Mod Podge, plastic, felt, and paint.*

*After placement of the felt mentioned in the video, it was covered with layers of micropore tape and Mod Podge and allowed to harden sufficiently before the body was painted.

Once shattered, Baby Nancy is now whole

Thank you again to the doll friend who allowed me to rehome Baby Nancy.

  1. Wow, amazing job as usual. I think you were wise not to add chemicals when chemical break down is what started her disintegration. I am amazed at how well you put her back together when repairing a hard body doll is NOT as easy as sewing up a fabric doll! She is so cute, I am glad you were able to save her.

    1. I'm glad I was able to repair her, too. It was like putting a jigsaw puzzle together finding which pieces went where. It got easier after most of the larger pieces were in place. Thank you!
