The wig is a nice option, but I'm not so sure how the braided wig is going to fit on my doll's head over the hair that is already on the top of the head. We shall see. The doll arrived today.

dbgBlack Doll Enthusiasthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07534871309015210903noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6047557606653771556.post-77742886088127788692019-09-26T13:27:25.130-05:002019-09-26T13:27:25.130-05:00Ken was left out of my swapping clothes playtime, ...Ken was left out of my swapping clothes playtime, but he probably didn't mind.

dbgBlack Doll Enthusiasthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07534871309015210903noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6047557606653771556.post-28669847888775330082019-09-26T13:15:48.384-05:002019-09-26T13:15:48.384-05:00I have more than a little age on me, and I love th...I have more than a little age on me, and I love the concept of this new line. And all the clothes fit and are meant to fit the doll, GIJoe and Ken were way to big to wear Barbie's clothes and Ken's clothes were huge on Barbie when I tried to let them share clothing as a child.aprilperlowskihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14776229165714962195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6047557606653771556.post-62194126135831655122019-09-25T19:48:19.113-05:002019-09-25T19:48:19.113-05:00Thanks, April for sharing your point of view. I know you're not alone in your thinking.

Most young children probably do not desire to express their gender identification through dolls, but for those who might, they certainly can with this doll concept.

This line takes me back to when I swapped the heads on my Barbies and other fashion dolls as a child just because it was possible to do.

dbgBlack Doll Enthusiasthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07534871309015210903noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6047557606653771556.post-88942947225059888792019-09-25T19:13:52.662-05:002019-09-25T19:13:52.662-05:00Well.... Personally I think this will sell IF children think the dolls are cute and fun--not because they need to express their "gender specificity." I think this will appeal more to adult collectors for whom this really matters. And if there are a lot of collectors, then it will sell, perhaps. But, when I think back to my own childhood, dolls were little characters whose world I controlled. I liked to comb their hair, dress them, play house with them. Maybe I was a teacher, hairdresser, mother, friend, whatever. But at no point did I look at a doll and think, I need to express my sexuality or gender. The idea of there being a variety of wigs and different types of clothes is....well FASHION! As long as they are current...that will be add to the child's fun and perhaps the success. I know this is perhaps an outdated way of seeing things. But maybe kids should be involved in the concept phase of toys/dolls development to see if, indeed, there is a need or desire for them. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.april_n_parishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14548456156450662065noreply@blogger.com
