With November just around the corner, I am looking forward to receiving Franklin Mint's featured Heirloom Doll, Michelle Obama First Lady of Style, a beautiful vinyl, 16-inch doll that, based on the prototype images, really looks like our country’s First Lady.
After learning last month about the doll's planned release, I wanted to be one of the first ones to claim ownership. Delighted that Franklin Mint's Easy Pay is offered (three monthly installments with the use of a debit or credit card), I immediately preordered.
It has been three weeks since my preorder. In anticipation of my doll's arrival, I recently browsed Franklin Mint's website and was very surprised to discover collectible dolls by Madame Alexander and Mattel. In addition to Michelle Obama First Lady of Style, other vinyl, 16-inch collectible dolls are currently available.
Having purchased fashions made for past 16-inch Franklin Mint collectible dolls (Jackie Kennedy and Princess Diana), the planned additional fashions for Michelle Obama First Lady of Style are on my wish list. Based on my first-hand appreciation of the heirloom quality of Franklin Mint's products, I expect the same quality for my preordered doll and wish-listed fashions.
If all goes as intended, my doll will arrive in mid-to-late November 2010. Have you ordered or do you plan to order Franklin Mint's Michelle Obama First Lady of Style? Based on the images of the doll in this blog and in my previous blog, do you agree that the doll really looks like our first lady?
Please share your thoughts by posting a comment and feel free to share the link to this blog with others who might be interested in learning about and/or adding this lovely doll to their collection. Thanks!

I also think the doll will be poseable which is also a plus. I like the doll but am cautiously optimistic because until it come out of the box and is in your hand, you never know what you are going to get and whether you will be happy with it or not.
ReplyDeleteI also would like to see the doll. It is nice that they are going to offer more outfits for the doll and I hope that they would be authentic.
ReplyDeleteI pre-ordered the Michelle doll, too. The prototype doll looks like Michelle, time will tell if the actual doll looks like the prototype doll. I cannot wait to see the outfits that were chosen for the doll.
ReplyDeleteI pre-ordered the DM Michelle Obama subscription doll. And I'm still waiting for her arrival. This doll by FM I will say better resembles the First Lady and I see also offers follow up gowns. I hadn't intended on buying this doll but I may give her a look see!
ReplyDeleteI've seen the First Lady and I would love to
ReplyDeletepreorder her. I would order the outfits, but I would be happy with just the doll. I've seen The First Lady in the Inaugural gown, I must say that I really like that one.
I ordered one of the very first "First Lady" dolls and am not very happy with it. I don't think it looks like her. Yes, I have/had one year to return it but have not yet made a decision. I also ordered a bobble head doll in the very same outfit and it does not look like her either. For these reasons, I did not order this specific one. Since I am not one to change the clothing, this feature did not sway my decision. Well written narrative, Debbie!!
ReplyDeleteI agree, based on the photo, this doll certainly looks like our First Lady. I probably will not order this doll, because it is not the type of doll that I normally collect. I look forward to seeing photos of the doll once it has been released.
ReplyDeleteCorrection to the 3rd anonymous post! I meant to say I pre-ordered the AD M. Obama doll, not the DM doll! That DM doll I sent back!

I think the hairstyle is dead-on like Mrs. Obamas style as is her body shape. The face is close but not exact. If she is posable will be a plus. Since I don't collect fashion dolls I am not sure if I will order her. If I do it will be as a companion to the Obama doll that I purchased 2 years ago.
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone is happy with their doll. It's always exciting waiting with anticipation. Good luck in winning the doll Debbie :)
ReplyDeleteCheers
I like the way she looks and of course, I have already ordered her. I want her not only because I'm an avid collector, but because she's such an awesome part of history.

I like her smile, that is a realistic looking doll, anyway speaking of realistic looking dolls I found this website http://www.ThatsMyFace.com/f/action_figure_head that can create a super-realistic doll heads of anyone from just a photo. Imagine making doll of yourself, your kids, your boss or your favorite celebrity!
ReplyDeleteApparently they can make the heads in many scales to fit Barbie-like dolls, Tonner dolls or even smaller figurines like Polly Pocket.
i am on pins and needles waiting for this doll. I have wanted a Michelle Obama doll since she bacame First Lady, and a few other dolls of her did not do her justice. I am really hopeful about this one!
ReplyDeleteI like this doll and Debbie does a fantastic job of giving us details on the new dolls coming out..Thank you Debbie.
ReplyDeleteThanks ,Debbie I am looking forward to seeing this doll.Judging from the photo ,she is very realistic looking
ReplyDeleteI like the details of this doll in the picture and I hope the actual doll will be just as lovely.
ReplyDeleteI am tempted to order the FM Michelle doll. I have the DM doll. She is ugly and too tall to match my Obama doll. I am looking at her across the room and all I can see are her white teeth. I think the FM doll is a better repenstation of Michelle. I would prefer a 11 1/2" doll and casual everyday athletic clothes.
ReplyDeleteGood luck in getting her in Nov. Before ordering this one, I ordered one from AD. I think that she was due in Sept., but I received notice yesterday that she won't be available until the end of Jan.
