Articulation is coming... articulation is coming!

Image from BarbieCollector.com
While browsing BarbieCollector.com in an attempt to find a purchase on which this quarter's reward could be applied, Barbie Basics Collection 002.5, specifically Model 008, caught my eye.  Not available yet, but I look forward to this doll because the body is articulated!  Finally, a Barbie Basics doll with pose-ability.

The addition of textured hair would have made her perfect, for me, but long straight will do.  Maybe, just maybe I will buy Model 02 from Collection Red and do a head swap.

I have until August 2011, when collection 002.5 is scheduled to arrive on BarbieCollector.com -- it may take that long or even longer for Model 02 from Collection Red to arrive locally.

We shall see.

  1. I look forward to seeing her. Love the outfit and the attitude.

Would have preferred textured hair, but hey, it's Mattel.

  2. Hey D7ana, shouldn't that be, "You can tell it's Mattel, it's swell"?

  3. I just hope they didn't do something crazy with these bodies. They have been known to throw us a curve ball occassionally. Texturing her hair would be pretty straighr forward. You guys can do it!

  5. I hope they don't throw us a curve ball, too.

What would I need to do to add texture to her bone straight hair?

  6. I am super excited by the articulation too. The model muse body size is too skinny for me but I will still buy a few. Stephen Sumner is the designer at Mattel who has taken over the SIS line since Stacey left. He says Mattel is considering articulated bodies in a range of body types and colors. I couldn't get him to say anymore than that.

This is not my site, but this method turns out really great, even for super stick straight hair. My advice is to do many small twists rather than fewer big ones--i've done both and the smaller, multiple twists end up looking a lot like Trichelle's textured hair (the rocawear one).

  10. Pudgybudgie,

Thanks for taking the time to share the link to Kristl's tutorial. Someone else also shared it with me privately. It's on my to do list to test it on one of my daughter's dolls as soon as time permits.

I'll take your advice and do several small twists because I want the hair to be tightly curled.

I'll share pictures as soon as I've tested the waters.
