Radiant Child Remi and Monsieur Z Jungle Fever by Integrity Toys
Remi and Nessa (Monsieur Z Jungle Fever) have united as a couple. I am not sure why they formed an attraction. Maybe their safari-style attire is the reason, or maybe Remi was attracted to Nessa's caricature eyes, which are still obvious despite the recent color change of her pupils.
For a hot minute I thought about darkening the corner whites of her eyes to give her a more normal-eye appearance. Using Brother's makeup was a consideration, but before doing that I thought I'd ask Son to Photoshop this close-up image I took of the new couple to give me an idea of what Nessa would look like with scleral darkening.

I explained to him what I wanted to achieve: "I want her to look more like a character doll instead of a caricature." After his incredulous, "She's a doll," reply, I explained, "I know, but look at his face. He looks like a real person; she doesn't. That's the look I want... real." His "Oh," meant he got it and didn't think I was gone all the way off the deep end.
Well, what he did in Photoshop convinces me that I will leave well enough alone or at least not take an eye makeover to such extremes. If Nessa looks like a caricature now, she definitely looks like something from somewhere beyond after Son's Photoshop interpretation of what "real" looks like.

What do you think?
I like the shape of the altered eyes except that they are a bit far apart. I think if they were closer together she would be very lovely.
ReplyDeleteLimbe Dolls - I agree. I think their distance is what weirded me out about the photoshopped eyes. In Near-Perfect Son's defense, he did exactly what I instructed him to do. But I still plan to leave well enough alone.

They make a nice couple. I like your enhancement better. The great thing is that you were able to see what she would look like by photoshopping her pic.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Georgia Girl. I agree. It's always nice to know beforehand what not to do.

"She's a doll." People just don't get us. I like your version. When did you get a Remy? I missed that post. I think on your son's version, if he made the eyes bigger it might better achieve what you are looking for. Nice couple, though.
ReplyDeleteI really like them as a couple. They look like spies together, LOL. I definitely like your version of her. It keeps her very unique look.
ReplyDeleteVery nice.
Hi Vanessa - Remi arrived in July initially with his head detached from his body! I've written two posts about. You did not comment on either one, so you must have missed them. Maybe you were out of town then. Here are the links: Post 1 and Post 2.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tracy India - I think they make a great couple, too. When I compared the before and after pictures, it appears my son also repositioned the glimmer in Nessa's eyes.

They do make a nice couple. The photoshopped eyes are spaced too far apart. I agree, leave them alone. She and Remy match up well together.
ReplyDeleteAt least you didn't pay $100 or whatever a repaint artist would have charged for the eyes in the second pic!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Limbe Dolls about the eyes being far apart. It would be hard to make the eyes closer because the eye area is slightly indented. So your son did an excellent job, given the raw material he is working with.
ReplyDeleteIntegrity Toys' Janay (3rd/4th head sculpt) has very long eyes compared to the action figure I usually pair her with, but I still like the look of them together. Your Remi and M. Z doll look good together also - common theme (safari), etc.
Me, I'm popping off the heads of my Monsieur Z dolls. Too big to be remedied, to my thinking.
I love this couple, beautiful!
