All of a Sutton Enabling

My Scene Jammin' in Jamaica Sutton, Mattel 2003

Certainly I know the correct spelling is s-u-d-d-e-n, but I thought the title spelling was catchy.

If you are a doll collector and associate with others who share your passion for dolls, you have been enabled to buy a doll or two.  I know this has happened to me more times than I can accurately state or wish to recall.

Have you ever enabled yourself to buy a doll?

My purchase of Jammin' in Jamaica Sutton was one such self-enabled yet aided purchase.  You see, I read D7ana's My Scene Jai post, which sparked my initial interest.  D7ana encouraged me to write about My Scene Madison (MSM) and Westley

After the MSM/Westley post, sudden Sutton Internet research ensued (what a mouthful).  Man Behind the Doll offers extensive information about My Scene Sutton, which includes images, year of release, and a full description.  While browsing that site, I initially considered purchasing the Justin Guarini look-a-like My Scene doll, Bryant, but after seeing the rooted hair versions of Sutton, his darker complexion drew me in.  Maybe I'll add Bryant later if I find one reasonably priced (here I go, self-enabling again).  But, (justifying the enabling) Westley needs a mate, too, since Madison has her claim on Sutton.

  1. Found a few Bryants at the Thrift Store. While I am going thru my collection if I come across one I will put on the side for you.

  2. I like Sutton. I've never scene him before. I figured I would get in on the word games. I feel horrible. I have beheaded Bryant a few times to steal his articulated body. Sorry.

    1. Too funny (scene/seen).

Don't feel horrible. I'm sure the body recipients appreciate their ability to articulate.

  3. I like Sutton. My Sutton is in a long-term relationship with Artsy Fashionista. They look good together since her head is slightly oversized.

    1. Roxanne that sounds like a good pairing. I really like Artsy, but that head keeps her from getting one of my current fellows. Maybe someone will show up that can handle her inflated ego. I mean head.

    2. It's wonderful that Sutton is a one-woman man and was able to go beyond his scene to find her, Roxanne.

  4. I love the punning, DBG and Vanessa ;-)

Thanks for mentioning my post about Jai, DBG! I put her up on eBay and swoop. She sold quick. And I had just thought, oh, I wouldn't mind if she doesn't sell. Shrug.

I sold most of my My Scene loose dolls or harvested their bodies for other dolls. I think I will keep my last Sutton intact though. Maybe ....

Thanks for sharing your Sutton and your My Scene information.

As for self-justifying ... well, we have to be kind to ourselves sometimes. Think of all the hard work we do day in and out. Buying dolls and action figures offsets that industry. It's your "reward" without the calories of say a wedge of New York style cheesecake or chocolate torte ...

Excuse me - had to pause at the thought of a creamy, dreamy, smooth and rich mouthful of cheesecake.

Back to dolls ... yes, there's no minute on the lips, forever on the hips dilemma as there is with food. If you change your mind, you can re-sell dolls.

Not that I think you have to with Sutton. Now I am looking at my last Sutton, the one in the car set with Madison. (See, it is good that Jai sold because otherwise, she and Madison

    1. You're welcome, D7ana. I do want Jai, but I'm not hard pressed to get her. Was that your loose Jai on eBay recently that attempted to tempt me?

We do have to indulge ourselves from time to time for our hard work and good deeds. And, dolls are a much better reward than food, although I am too often tempted by food, too.

I love your justification for their purchase: if you change your mind, you can re-sell dolls. True... even if they are sold for less than the amount they cost, the joy they provided while while they were yours is compensation.
