FDQ Article by D. Behan Garrett on Van's Doll Treasures

I had not planned to post anything today, but decided to share this image and the associated text.

My most recently published article is in the Autumn 2012 Americana issue of Fashion Doll Quarterly, pages 48-53. Readers get a glimpse of Vanessa Morrison's doll dioramas and her overall creative genius.

Check out her blog, if you have not already, to see why I felt compelled to share her with the fashion doll community at large.

  1. There is so much irony in these photos. The fact that they were taken a year ago, and all that has transpired since then, you would think all the events were carefully planned. Not only that, you would think I selected the order of the pictures for the magazine, which we know I didn't. Melanie was happy she made the front page of the article. The last photo of Danielle and Rod having a toast on what was their first date of the time, speaks volumes, now that they are married and with all the drama they are experiencing with Melanie.

    1. I agree Vanessa. Someone's hand greater than ours was in this all along. The article was also published, I believe, in the right publication at the right time.

After DollReader kept stalling, even after accepting the article, I am happy I took it to FDQ with your blessing.

Now DollReader is no longer in publication. So, there again, something greater than you and I, or even FDQ made this happen at the right time.

  3. Vanessa, I hope you got Melanie's release to have her photo published or she is going to sue you!

I hope it's rewarding to you both to see your article and images in glossy print, because I, for one, think it's awesome! Kudos to you both!

    1. Yes, Muff, it's very rewarding to see my articles and actually any articles about dolls and doll subjects I enjoy in print. Thanks for the kudos!

My goal has been to get at least one article published in all the majors. With the exception of one relatively new publication, I have done that.
