Clever Tip Jar

Doll Tip Jar - Photo courtesy of eBay seller renatejr

I saw this creative tip jar on eBay while searching the site for, what else, African American dolls.  I am not sure what keywords helped me locate it, but I did.  With seller's permission, the images are shared and a link to his current listing is included below.

Featuring what appears to be a basic fashion doll, the seller attached the doll with a screw and washers to a painted, gallon-size tin container. Decorative stickers are attached to the lid and front of the tin along with the caption:  Tipping is Sexy.

The seller's auction description explains that tips increase "my musician's income."  Further, explanation for these is that most manufactured tip jars are too ordinary and not as likely to encourage generosity as much as the ones crafted by the seller.

At the time of this post, the seller is offering two doll tip jars, the AA one featured here and a My Scene Barbie one along with several other non-doll tip jars.  Provided the auctions are still current, they can all be seen here among seller's other listings.

I wonder if the seller has considered creating a doll tip jar using a male playscale doll or action figure?

Thanks again, renatejr for allowing me to share your eye-catching tip jars with the readers of this blog.

  1. Very cute! I'm sure the uniqueness encourages more tips. I also like the one she has with a cow that says 'tipping isn't just for cows'. LOL.

  2. Cute! Definitely encouraged to tip if the jar looks fun and not something that looks like a government issue metal box. LOL.

    However...

I will never, ever screw holes in my dolls to fix them on anything! Cruelty to cute dolls LOL.

    1. My clone attenae are raised as a result of seeing this particular clone used on the tip jar, Muff. I've seen her locally, either at Big Lots or Family Dollar and completely ignored her. But seeing her on the tip jar has given me a new appreciation for her sculpt, clone or not. The next time I am in either of these two stores, if she is there, I am bring her home with me. She'll probably be upgraded to a new body, but maybe not. I really like her.

BTW, I think Paulette (Limbe Dolls) uses her in Ayamedia Productions.

  6. I LOVE this idea...As a Face Painter, I've had several creative tip jars: the bubble bank, flower box with a petals surrounding the hole where the money is dropped in, etc. The Barbie is #1 for me. Combing my two loves Art & Dolls...No, I will not use any of my favorite dolls in my collection, but the wheels are turning in my head to create another catching phrase due to the fact that my customer base are children. Maybe: Tipping is CUTE... Thanks for sharing. You always have the best Blog post!

    1. I like your kid-friendly phrase, Sandy. Please share photos of your creation if you decide to create a Barbie tip jar. You could also paint the doll's face to further showcase your talent.
