Facebook friend Renee R. messaged me with a link to the My Froggy Stuff Youtube video, "How to Make a Doll Loveseat/Sofa."
With no immediate plans to make one, I stumbled upon some textured felt at Wal-Mart a few days after viewing the video and thought the pattern and color would look nice on a sofa for my playscale people. I was also planning my participation in the So In Style Yahoo Group Spring Fling event to redress So In Style dolls in spring attire and share photos with other group members. I thought the color of the felt would be perfect for a loveseat to use as a prop, if I completed it in time.
Well, I did. I modified the instructions of the video to suit my preferences. Below are images of the loveseat along with an image of one of my playscale couples to illustrate the scale:
Of course it is not without flaws, nothing done the first time usually is. I was surprised by my husband's approving comments after I showed it to him.
And there won't.

Me: I made a loveseat (handing it to him).
Surprised, he held and inspected it and then said: You did pretty good.
Me confessing: The back is too tall; the cushions are not even, and I should have made pillows for the back...
Him: Yeah, the sides could use a little more cushioning, too. It was your first time. You'll do better next time.
Me: There won't be a next time. I just wanted to see if I could do it.
Him, thinking out loud, but wanting me to hear: Oh Lord, now there won't be any room here. First the dolls and now doll furniture.
Me: Don't worry. There won't be any of that.
And there won't.

DeleteI wanted mine to have clean lines, to appear more contemporary than the rolled and curved edges of the sofa in the video... plus I usually take shortcuts (such as the use of double-sided tape and glue).
