2013 Holiday Barbie preparing for a well-deserved redress |
2013 Holiday Barbie was one of my doll Christmas gifts from a a friend. I wanted this doll because of the Pazette head sculpt, which was first used on Stephen Burrow's doll of the same name (in ebony complexion). My plan was to give her an immediate redress. Plan completed.
Cardboard was used to line the skirt of 2013 Holiday Barbie's dress. Tsk, tsk, tsk. |
During the deboxing process, I was shocked to discover the cardboard Mattel tacked underneath the front of the skirt. I call this cutting corners to the extreme. They probably feel most "collectors" will keep the dolls boxed and will never know.
Color Infusion Janay "allowed" Pazette to borrow her tribal chevron-print dress. She is wearing shoes from a Barbie fashion purchased from Target prior to the holidays. (See next photo.)
The clutch she holds was made for Janay earlier this year. (Yes, Janay allowed Pazette to borrow that, too.) Her earrings are her own, but they will be replaced soon.
Pazette models the tribal chevron-print dress made by Shasha. |
I think she looks lovely in her borrowed things (not as lovely as Janay), but lovely enough.
A possible additional plan is to upgrade her ModelMuse body to an articulated one. I have not made a final decision on whether or not I will follow through with this, but more redressing will definitely be done.

Oh, she looks good in that Chevron dress!

This is one of the prettiest Holiday dolls that Mattel has made. I unfortunately missed out on her, but hope to find her one day. Very nice redressed!
ReplyDeleteThank you, GG. I missed out on her too, which is why when my friend asked for ideas on what to buy me for Christmas this year, this doll was included. I had been checking eBay for several months but most sellers wanted more than I wanted to pay since my plan was to redress her immediately.

She looks so much happier in the chevron dress! It brings the remote, unearthly beauty of Pazette a little more down-to-earth, about where people should run after her to offer bouquets.
ReplyDelete"Where people should run to after her to offer bouquets," I can visualize this being done.

I like this head sculpt. She always reminds me of Hillary Banks from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air show.
ReplyDeleteNow that you have mentioned it, she does resemble Karyn Parsons. I might give her a boil perm to add more loose curls or waves to her hair. I fluffed it up with a brush yesterday and think she'll look good with "bigger" hair (not a 'fro, just curls).

She's Special,Debbie!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Pazette is the first doll of Mr.Burrows(I hope I can include her on my collection as my 50th self birthady's gift),but this doll is amzing and really deserves an ariculated body.It seems to be not so difficult since her skintone get more chances of good result than the darkskin dolls.(Why Mattel is so resistant to create darkskin dolls articulated??Oh My!!) Anyway you have a beuaty in hands and she is by your resatyling free from the bad treasures of Mattel....
Thank you, Jorge. She is gorgeous. I had considered giving her an articulated body, but I am not sure that will be done at this point. If I posed my dolls for dioramas or stories as others do or for photography as you, I would probably rebody her without hesitation.
DeletePazette will just serve as a fun doll to dress fashionably here. The pose she holds is perfect for the current fashion she models. If I change my mind, I have two articulated Fashionistas with the same complexion.
I hope you are able to purchase the original Pazette for you 50th anniversary. She will be a wonderful gift from you to you.

I don't know exactly how,but in many photos I saw of her,by lots of sites, I always recognized something of Whiitney Houston's face on her...I love her more for this
ReplyDeleteJorge,
DeleteNow that you have mentioned the Whitney Houston resemblance to Pazette, I see it, too! She does look like Whitney!

It's something subtle, that comes by her lips,maybe... I can not identify accurately what is...but there's something....
DeleteI see Whtiney in Pazette's smile, nose, and eyes. And her ModelMuse body is definitely similar to Whitney's body when she made her singing debut.

She is lovely, but I tend not to purchase new dolls that aren't articulated. Posing is part of the fun, and there is definitely a different vibe between the articulated and unarticulated doll sections. Need to mix it up a bit more!
ReplyDeleteI'm new to the blog and am enjoying it quite a bit. It sounds like you made the chevron dress. Is that the case? It's terrific!
Hi Troy,
DeleteOh no, other than a creating a hem or sewing a simple stitch for something, I do not sew. The chevron-print dress was made by Shasha. She has an Etsy shop and also has a blog, the link to which is included in the caption of the first photo of the doll modeling the fashion. Here it is again: Ateliernishasha
This is a very nice gift from your friend, Debbie! She is lovely, and she looks great in her outfit. I hope to see her on an articulated body soon. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Roxanne! I am not sure that I will give her a new body. The jury is still out on that. I do want to do something else with her hair. It needs more curls. Now that I fluffed it up the ends look dry because the fibers are probably not the best quality that Mattel could have used. Always cutting corners...

She looks great in Shasha's chevron outfit! She has a lovely face. I've considered getting her in the past, but not sure she will make the list of 10 for this year.
ReplyDeleteShe really does. Thanks, Vanessa.
DeleteI think she would make a wonderful new edition to your doll family. Do you plan to buy any of the 2015 non-articulated Barbies from the new head sculpt selection?
dbg
No, I have no plans to add any of the new 2015 Barbie dolls. I did list a doll for sale on ebay this morning. I'm really overwhelmed with the number of dolls that are here. Hard to consider adding anything else at this point.
DeletePazette brings in subtle sexy... I love that your girls are loving (and sharing, which is a healthy kind of loving...) the Chevron dress :) Thanks, Debbie for choosing this dress for her first redress :) Hugs!
ReplyDeleteNo, thank you, Shasha for sharing your talent with those of us in the doll community who love the fashions you create.

Awww thanks, Deb! Hugs!!!
