Prologue: In part 1, Chandra introduced Hakeem to her parents. As Chandra knew he would, Hakeem met with their approval. After leaving Chandra's house, the couple went to Dave and Buster's where Chandra's younger cousin, Caleb, celebrated his 16th birthday. They then drove to Hakeem's house to meet his parents. By this time, Hakeem's apprehension returned because he knows how strict, and often judgmental, his mother has been about his past girlfriends, his male friends, and everyone with whom he associates. He's hoping for the best because he really likes Chandra and her parents.
Epilogue: The Williams leave for their dinner date. Hakeem and Chandra remain behind and watch a repeat of the American Black Film Festival Honors because both are interested in film and TV production. Afterward, Hakeem drives Chandra home.

Photo stories with dolls are cool. My hat goes off to those who are able to tell a good story using doll characters and place the dolls in several different settings. It's a tedious task.
If you enjoy reading doll stories, check out some of the following blogs where stories are the main theme.
Fashion Dolls at Van's Doll Treasures
Brini's Doll Domain
Pink Obsession
There are several other great story-telling bloggers, but these are the three that I could think of right off the top of my head. If you know of others, drop the URLs to their blogs in a comment. Thanks!

Ha! So glad Chandra is all in one piece, I was a wee bit worried :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you, this was fun. My hat is off to you and all the creative collectors who share their passion with blog posts, photo stories and on picture sharing sites, your efforts really enhance this hobby.
Initially she was going to get the third degree from both Hakeem's parents, but as I was photographing and writing the story in my head while doing so, the father softened up.

I like his parents. His father is especially handsome. I see where Hakeem gets his striking looks. Mama was going in. I'm glad Chandra was able to keep her cool and stay respectful. I know in her head she was saying "what does my father's profession have to do with my friendship with Hakeem?"
ReplyDeleteSome of the best photostories can be found at www.roville.net. Her sets are amazing! I enjoy doing photostories, but I hate when I get the idea to do stories with a lot of dolls. Getting them dressed alone is so tiring. Then putting them all away afterwards...tiring. Luckily all the stuff in between comes pretty naturally, else I don't think I would still be doing it. I wish I had more time to do it, like I used to, but life is ever changing.
Hi Vanessa,
DeleteHakeem's father is handsome. I just wish GI Joes were actually 12 inches tall. They are typically too short to be paired with most playscale females. This one worked well as Hakeem's father, I think. As I commented to Maricha's reply, Mr. Williams was going to be as hard on Chandra as Mrs. Williams, but the story changed. One or the other (probably Mrs. Williams) was going to judge her by her too short overalls, but I decided they didn't need to go there.
I can't even imagine what it is you alone go through to dress the dolls and set up the dioramas for the multiple scenes in each story, but I am glad you do it because I enjoy reading and following the lives of the people in Morristown.
Thanks for suggesting Roville.net. I was familiar with the blog but not the website.

Mrs Williams is a typical mother of an only son. Lol!! It is always the father that is usually the friendliest. I loved how Chandra handled herself though. Looking forward to more stories! Hakeem and Chandra make such a cute couple!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the shout out!😘
I am glad you enjoyed it, GG, and thanks for letting me know. I think they are an adorable couple too and you might just see more of them later. Who knows. I never say never, even for difficult tasks.
DeleteYou're welcome for the shout out!

Wow as a mother of a only son, Mrs. Williams scares me! I love the story and I knew Chandra was ok because she was respectful. I also like that she was the same with Hakeem and not making a scene. I like these two together.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Brini.
DeleteAs a mother of an only son, I have never been like Mrs. Williams, but Mrs. Williams, I must admit was patterned after my mother. These are the kinds of questions she would ask boys who showed interest in me. My father was just the opposite. If I was happy and as long as they treated me respectfully, he was cool.

Chandra's mom raised her well. It is great they could be trusted home alone! Hakeem's mom dresses very well. http://onesixthavenue.blogspot.com/ can be pretty good. Sometimes she can get a bit squeamish (her word) or sexual. I like her characters and settings.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestion TGM. I'll check out onesixthavenue out.
DeleteI agree; Chandra's mom did raise her well.

As far as doll photo stories go, I tend to be drawn to blogs that are written from the perspective of the dolls themselves (dolls who know that they are dolls and who occasionally discuss what it's like to deal with interference from their human owners) and Belle's Bulletins is one of the best. The majority of my own blog's content was inspired by Belle's Bulletins, and I know of several other bloggers who use a similar storytelling format. While this style of blogging might not appeal to everyone, I think it provides a refreshing change of pace from a typical doll photo story.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a lovely day.

Hi Treesa,
DeleteStories written from a dolls perspective would interest me. My third book was written by the dolls who shared their experiences with me, their owner. I'll have to google Belle's Bulletins for the URL. I'll check out your blog as well. Thanks for the suggestions.

PS: Looking and thinking back, I have published a few earlier other posts where the dolls engaged in dialogue with one another. They are not dolls that know they are dolls, but stories nonetheless. I'll have to tagged these as "doll stories" as soon as time permits.
thanks
