S.I.S. Pastry, S.I.S. Basic "Concert," & Little Friends

Barbie So In Style Pastry Collection:  Kara, Trichelle, Grace, and Chandra

Today At My Local Walmart:  The S.I.S. Pastry* dolls and S.I.S. Basic "Concert" dolls were in stock along with all three dolls in the S.I.S. Little Friends collection (including Julian!).  The rack that held the Pastry dolls did not contain a price.  The Pastry dolls and Little Friends were $7.97 at Wal-Mart.

ToysRUs.com:  The S.I.S. Pastry dolls are also available at TRU.com for $11.99 as well as the S.I.S. Basic "Concert" dolls (pictured above), which are $7.99.  TRU.com is currently offering free shipping on everything for orders that total $100 or more.  Images of the dolls are not available at TRU.com, but the Pastry dolls are named and described there.  The Basic "Concert" dolls do not have images and are identified merely as Barbie So In Style 1, 2, and 3 at TRU.com.  I was able to match their numbered descriptions with their actual IDs using the UPC code on the boxes of the dolls pictured above.  If ordered from TRU.com prior to images and full descriptions being added, the Basic "Concert" dolls are as follows:

Barbie So In Style - 1 is Grace (UPC code ending in -3524).
Barbie So In Style - 2 is Trichelle (UPC code ending in - 531).
Barbie So In Style - 3 is Kara (UPC code ending in -3548).

*The Pastry dolls wear authentic Pastry fashions designed by Vanessa and Angela Simmons (daughters of Rev. Run Simmons; nieces of Russell Simmons).

  1. Thank you for the information! These dolls have very cute faces, clothing, and accessories. I'm going to pass on these though, mainly because of their bodies.

  4. Thanks for this post. I wasn't even aware of the pastry collection. TRU dolls aren't usually that much more expensive than the Walmart doll, so that is a little odd.

I did see the Basic line at a Walmart. I was very disappointed. At the time I didn't realize they were $8. I did find that out when I got back home and looked on the internet. I was still unhappy. I felt they were going backwards. How do you start a line with articulated dolls and then get away from it. I tweeted my feelings to the designer and told her I felt that Mattel was pushing the fashionistas and was maybe trying to get away from the S.I.S. line. I asked her to fight for us. I haven't gotten a response yet, but she did start folowing me on Twitter.

  5. I'm glad you voiced your displeasure about the direction Mattel appears to be taking with the S.I.S. line, Vanessa. I'm sure the designer heard you. Trust me, they read our emails, blogs, and tweets. The best way, however, is to hit them where it hurts. If you're truly not completely satisfied with something, do voice your concers and, more importantly, don't buy it. The lack of revenue speaks volumes.

  6. I've been looking for a real life photo of the concert Trichelle! Is her hair tightly coiled like the Rocawear Trichelle from last year?

  7. Danya,

Yes, Trichelle's hair is tightly coiled in the back. The front is smooth. I will take and post a better head shot and provided the link in a comment here soon.

  8. Danya,

See Trichelle and the other dolls' headshots here.

  9. @dbg I really don't plan on buying these dolls. I am hopeful that they will continue to offer the articulated version. On the other hand, I don't want them to get rid of the line. I think it is important to keep it going. My niece who just turned 20, and to my knowledge was never interested in Barbie dolls, desperately wanted one of these dolls. I think it was primarily because of the Rocawear clothes. But I was thrilled to hear it.

  10. Hi Vanessa,

I think the Rocawear brand was enticing for several people who would have otherwise not been interested in a doll, period. I’m glad your niece found them interesting. The Pastry brand may also have the same affect on people.

As collectors, we always want the whole kit and caboodle -- articulation being the caboodle in this case. I do not want the line to go away either.

The Barbie line, in general, includes both low-end and high-end dolls (target market=children and collectors, respectively). So it's okay for the S.I.S. line to include low-end dolls, too (especially since their target market is children).

I'm sure additional dolls with full articulation will be added to this line soon. My hope is for them to include full articulation that works well: elbows, wrists, and knees.

  12. You're right! It appears that Chandra either wasn't invited or had other plans.
