V.I.P. Chyna Is Cute!

This was supposed to be a quick post to share my opinion of China Anne McClain's portrait doll by Mattel:  V.I.P. Chyna Ann Parks, which is based on the character from the Disney show A.N.T. Farm.

I took more pictures than I planned and did a mini comparison which lengthened this post.

Initial photos, in and out of the box (click to enlarge):

V.I.P. Chyna is 10-1/2-inches tall, shorter than Barbie but with larger, high-heel feet.

Height comparison:  Calista 9-1/2 inches; Chyna 10-1/2 inches; Barbie 12 inches with shoes

Barbie's foot is on the left; Chyna's foot is on the right.

I am happy that Chyna's big brown eyes are perfectly painted and shaped. (The rooted eyelashes are a little heavy, but this was probably intentional.)  She has a toothy, wide grin (similar to the real China's, which is part of China's appeal.)

Chyna, nude, with the exception of her necklace; is this a Monster High body?

She has a petite body as shown in the nude image above, which is similar in appearance to nude doll images of Monster High girls I have seen.  I don't own any MH dolls so I cannot confirm that their proportions are the same or similar.  I do wonder if she can wear MH fashions.

I appreciate the articulation, which is the in the usual head-to-neck, upper arm-to-body, and upper-leg-to-body locations.  In addition, she is articulated underneath her breast area, at the elbows, and knees.  Her wrists are not articulated as I originally thought, but according to the box, she has 40+ poses.

Jacket has attached "dickey"; leggings are attached to skirt.

The fashionable, trendy, outfit is cute but not as versatile as I thought.  I incorrectly assumed the jacket had a tank or separate top underneath and that the skirt and leggings were two pieces.  The yellow material is attached to the purple jacket and the leggings are sewn to the skirt.

Are these Monster High Hands?

Her hand sculpt is interesting and, like her body, also appears to be the Monster High hands.

Box removal was a snap.  She was connected with elastic bands with the exception of two plastic attachments from her head to the box.

Overall Assessment:  I-love-her!

  1. She's really nice. That is not a MH body. It's much bigger. But it is a wonderful body for swapping onto other dolls. I will more than likely buy her, put her head on a taller body. And use her body for one of my teenagers. You Artsy is pretty stylish in this picture.

    1. Thanks for the MH info, Vanessa. I guess buying MH clothing for Chyna is out.

Hope you're able to get her soon.

Artsy is pretty stylish. She usually remains seated because her skirt is so short and she's only wearing those molded-on nude undies!

  2. I concur with Vanessa. I've been waiting for this doll (or rather her body) for over a year.

    1. Hope you're able to find her soon, Limbe Dolls.

In my enthusiasm over Chyna, I forgot to mention her accessories: She has a yellow handbag with coordinated, molded-on purple bow; a personalized hair brush, a doll stand, and a V.I.P. card with secret code to unlock "exclsuive online content."

    1. Calista's current BFF is Briana (OHC), but a girl can always have more than one BFF.

Hope you find her locally, Brini.

    1. She's a great one to hold in your hands, Ms. Leo. As a child I would often walk around with one of my fashion dolls in my hand. Holding her brings back those memories.

      You're welcome!

  5. Are her knees articulated - hinge or rubber/clicks? I must admit - I like her body more than I do the head. Ya'll know how I am about dolls with teeth! And is it just me, or does she suffer from big head syndrome? But for the big, toothy smile, she could be mistaken for a Liv or Bratz doll.

    1. Squarepeg78 - Knees, articulated (check); hinged (check).

I should have included Alexis in the height comparison image. Her head is a little large for her body, but not as humongous as Alexis's.

I think you might be able to live with her teeth or the appearance of, since they are not individual teeth.

I love her. She is my favorite doll for now.

  7. DBG, JustJay has done a review on one of the VIP dolls and says that they can wear Monster High clothes.

Monster High girls differ in their leg structure. Above the knee they have very short thighs, but below the knee the rest of the leg is very long in comparison. In the second to last photo of my post here you can see a nude Monster body.

I too hoped that her clothing was all separates but hope springs eternal, I guess, lol. She is still rocking it though.

    1. Thanks, Muff for sharing the link to JustJay's comparison and to your MH image.

I forgot to mention the difficulty I had getting her sleeves over her wide stretched fingers, but it is doable. Glad JJ pointed this out in his comparison.

He shows the doll wearing Barbie shoes, but it is probably more accurate to say the V.I.P. dolls can wear some styles of Barbie's shoes -- high heels or sandals will not fit.

It's good to know MH clothing fits!

      Thanks again.
