Twist 'N Shout Darla Daley in Rebecca jumpsuit made by Shasha of atelierni Shasha |
Since 2013, Twist 'N Shout Darla Daley by Integrity Toys has been wearing the Rebecca one-shouldered jumpsuit made by Shasha. I won the fashion during Shasha's
Welcome 2013 Contest. It's perfect for Darla, including the handmade bracelet, earrings, and belt. However, recently I decided to see if Tamica would look as good wearing it.

Tamica in Tamica dress |
Because Tamica was wearing the Tamica dress Shasha made (shown above), I decided to just do a fashion swap between the two dolls. I was pleasantly surprised.
|
Tamica now wears her bronze leaf-shaped earrings and beaded bracelet along with bronze sandals, matching purse, and a copper arm bracelet with the Rebecca jumpsuit, which I knew would look nice on her, but... |
|
...I didn't realize how great Darla would look in the Tamica dress. Her body already exhibits a lot of "movement," which the dress accentuates. Darla still wears the earrings that came with the Rebecca jumpsuit, and the belt is now worn as a two-strand necklace with beaded pendant. |
|
Darla finished her new look with a faux-straw hat that Goddess Emerald wore first, which looks rather nice with her new ensemble. |

I have always considered doll redressing as the next best thing to getting a new doll without the added expense. Darla's redress really did give me the new doll sensation, but this is probably because she had been wearing the jumpsuit for over three years! Because Tamica has become my redressing muse, I know she won't wear the jumpsuit as long.
They're both so elegant :-)

I agree - redressing dolls satisfies a new doll urge and brings out different aspects of a familiar doll. Your ladies look great.

Now that's a success. Both ladies look just as nice in both outfits. I've always wanted a Darla Daley doll. I really hope this post doesn't send me into shopping mode. Maybe I should just go redress a doll to satisfy my urge.
ReplyDeleteHi Vanessa,
DeleteI just had to have Twist 'N Shout Darla Daley when I discovered her (about a year after her release). There was something about the head sculpt that I found appealing. This one is my first. She was purchased nude at a great price. I later purchased a new-in-box one and another Darla that has the new Darla Daley head sculpt.
BTW: The shape of this Darla's feet is odd, semi-high heel, semi-flat, with a wide toe area which made it a little difficult to find shoes for her. That may not be so much the case now with the different shoe sizes available for Barbies from petite, tall, to curvy.
I'll have to do a post on my three Darlas soon.
I hope redressing does the trick of you.

Beautiful dolls and outfits! Redressing is actually a fun and inexpensive way to have a new doll. I am thinking about going on no doll shopping for one of theses months and plan to do just what you did during the hiatus.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great plan, GG. I know you can keep yourself busy by redressing your lovely ladies.

Love that moment when you update what a doll is wearing and she just looks perfect...like she's just discovered her own style. They both look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Julius! Tamica has undergone yet another redress and a temporary renaming, but Darla is still rocking the little black dress and "straw" hat.
