This Barbie Signature Collection was designed by Carlyle Nuera. Not mentioned in the video is that all three dolls have painted fingernails. In the order that they appear in the video (GHT91, GHT94, AND GHT96), their fingernails are painted green, off-white, and pink.
When my order was placed for this trio, all six dolls were in stock at Barbie.Mattel.com. At the time of this writing, most had a preorder status at the Barbie Mattel site.

Love the video concept for unboxing. Matching one's hair color to one's overalls ought to be a Fashion Rule. The theater teenagers I know would go for it. Appropriately dark lipstick -- has Mattel finally gotten the message?

DeleteThe hair color works for him and I do hope Mattel has gotten the message about the lip color. It doesn't always have to be as dark as this doll's, but I do hope they have put the overuse of bright pink lip color to rest.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the video. It was good to see your dolls. I like the curvy dark skinned doll a lot. I just hope the plastic is the same colour on all her body parts. Some times dark skinned dolls with fully articulated bodies tend to be given what I call the 'patchwork' body. I also have to admit, that despite being a black woman, I have never been a fan of baby hair. If I ever get her the baby hair will have to go.
I hope one day MATTEL will extend the box braids hair to dolls with a darker complexion than the Fashionista with the faux leather red skirt and the BMR blasian doll.

You're welcome, R-let. All dolls have been removed from their boxes, but I haven't redressed any. I will check to see if the curvy doll's body matches her head coloring. I have never been a baby-hair fan. Mattel attempts to keep up with trends like that. I believe the So in Style dolls' designer, Stacey McBride-Irby, first used painted baby hair on that line of dolls and Mattel has continued the use. It's too pretentious a thing for me to ever consider doing, but to each her own.
