Finally, a Dark Skinned Lammily

For those interested in purchasing a not-so-glamorous,  not-so-fashion conscious doll made with more realistic proportions than most playscale dolls, the Lammily folks are adding a dark skinned doll to the line. The 11-inch doll with an interest in photography is scheduled for March 2016 shipping and can be preordered now for $25 plus shipping.

From their website:
The Lammily doll is the first fashion doll made according to typical human body proportions to promote realistic beauty standards and help your child develop a positive body image!
  • Eleven inches tall and ready for action with articulated elbows, hands, knees, and feet.
  • Includes 1 doll with camera.
  • Only Lammily branded fashions will fit on the doll.
  • Available option: Period Party – the fun way to explain the menstrual cycle to kids.
  • Available option: Lammily Marks – a sticker pack of scars, acne, cellulite and more!
I preordered one but did not see the available options mentioned above on their website.

  1. Hi Debbie! That's a good news! I am tempted to purchase one but I have already maxed pre-ordering the re-editition of Raven by Maru and Friends.
Anyway, I will wait for your full review on 'photographer'.
Have a nice day my collector friend!

  2. Thanks for letting me know about the re-release of Raven by Maru and Friends. I have Tanya. At the time I purchased her, the original Raven had not been added to the line. Between the two, I would have opted for the darker complexion Raven. I am tempted to order the new version, but because of Raven's height, I probably will admire her from a far.

I don't think I have done a post on Tanya. She has been wanting to be redressed for quite some time, so I think I will have to give that top priority and include the information about Raven's availability in that post.

    1. Debbie, the "Marks" and "Period Party" packages are currently available under "Accessories". I did not order them, but they are available right now. The notes one the site for the dark skinned Lammily tell you that you must place the pre-order on order separately from anything else you wish to order. Personally, I am a little grossed out by the period party package. It comes with a pair of panties -- hopefully, they are not "stained"!

    2. You're welcome, Phyllis.

Thanks for the information on how to order the accessories. I am not interested in either and didn't notice their availability until after I preordered and copied the description into the post. Here's hoping the panties are not stained! I am also glad Lammilly uses pads and not tampons!

  4. I am always happy to see dolls with different proportions than standard fashion dolls. I plan to order this one. I will not be ordering the" accessories".

    1. I like different, too, Roxanne, when it remains positive. No accessories are planned for my doll either.

  5. I really like her face sculpt. I would be tempted to redo her eyes though as they appear flat compared to how realistic her face, cheeks and mouth are.

I didn't get my period until I was twelve. I wish I would have been given a book beforehand so I knew what the h.e. double heck was happening in my underwear. Talk about a fright.

  6. If I was confident at painting eyes, I would repaint several. Most mass produced dolls have unrealistic eyes that I would love to change.

I was 12 but pretended to have started at 11 like most of my friends who had either started their menstrual cycles or like me pretended to have started. Me, wanting to be grown before my time, I pretended I had started. My mother did give me "the book" but didn't explain anything. After I actually started, my daddy almost cried saying his baby wasn't a baby anymore. I hated buying pads and would often ask him to buy them for me. He didn't like it, but he did it every time.
