New Website Address

My website (not this blog) is moving from http://blackdollcollecting.com to
http://blackdollcollecting.wix.com/dbg2

The new site, created at wix.com, was done with relative ease.  It is also free whereas I was "nickeled and dimed" for just about everything for my original site for the past several years.

The old site, created to promote my books, will officially close on May 1, 2014, or whenever the current paid-for term ends.

Under the More/Blogger Feed link, this blog feeds into the new website, which was not a feature of the old. The search engine there does not work well and none of the sidebar features here are present, but the posts and associated images feed in properly.  With a click of the Next and Previous side arrows, additional posts are readily accessible.

If you have time to visit, please do a cursory view of each page at your convenience and let me know if it is easy on the eyes.  I always worry about the use color fonts and backgrounds.  Thanks in advance!

  1. The layout of your new website is very clear and it's pleasant to read. For me it's easy on the eyes and I like that your blog posts have a scrolling function with prev and next.

  4. I like the contrasting colors and how easy it is to read. The pages loaded very fast and I really liked the way the pages scrolled. The blogger feed has some bugs. When you click on it, it shows this "New Website" post, but when you click the next button, even though you see the refreshing circle go off, the page is just blank. However, the content is there, just not visible because your mouse turns into the clickable hand and if you click in the void, photos will open (like your wicker chairs).

    1. Thanks, Muff, for the heads up on the blog feed bugs. I changed the URL of the blog yesterday and I wonder if that created the issue. I will delete the Blogger App and reinstall it to see if that eliminates the bugs.

    2. Ok, I just checked the blog functionality using my IPad and everything worked properly... this post was the first entry; the Next arrow loaded the wicker furniture post; the Previous arrow from that post properly returned me to this post. May I ask what device and browser you used? I will check it on my PC in a couple of hous to see what happens. I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser on my PC but also have Internet Explorer installed. I will check it with both browsers.

    3. Hi Muff,

Internet Explorer is the culprit. The same blog bugs you described were present when I viewed the blog through IE and tried to advance from the current post to the previous post. The problems were not there using Mozilla Firefox as my browser on my PC. I'll see if the wix.com people are aware of this issue. They'll probably want me to upgrade to a premium account, but that won't happen.

    4. Hey Muff,

Wix is not compatible with IE8 and lower versions. I am sure my version is not the most current. According to their website: Wix is compatible with Internet Explorer (version 9 and above), Firefox, Chrome and Safari.

    5. Hmmm... I have IE9. Oh well... I don't use it as my main browser on this computer anyway.
