Ken #203 in Real Life

Ken #203

Ken #203 arrived the day after I ordered him from Amazon. His Excel spreadsheet description entry is copied below followed by additional photos.

12-inch ebony-complexioned Ken has sculpted twisted hair, light-brown painted eyes, a broad nose, and full closed-mouth, dark-painted lips. Dressed in an orange jersey with an orange, white, and royal blue Chevron design on the front and the letter K on the left front with blue denim-patterned knee-length pants, and white low-top sneakers. Presented in a plastic pink zippered package.

Ken #203 is featured on the back of the package insert along with the other dolls in this release.

He is a very handsome doll.

I was asked if the sculpted hair can be removed. It appears that it’s just a “hair hat,” which isn’t attached to his face. So, yes, I believe it can be removed.

Unfortunately, the articulation is limited to the usual five areas (the neck, shoulders, and where the legs join the body).

Ken #203 has a deeper complexion than Looks Ken #4.

A full-length complexion comparison between #203 and Looks Ken #4 (Jon) better illustrates their complexion difference.

Kendrick and Robyn are complexion matches.

In this collection, they are siblings.

If he were articulated with synthetic hair, Kendrick would be perfect!

  1. Thanks for you post and your photos! This answered so many questions for me but I still have a few. Is he on a normal or slim body? Is the face basically Fashionista Ken #130?Does the head have a new sculp number/year since the hair is different than Fashionista Ken #130?

So he is a new Ken complexion? Mattel's Prince-ish attitude about offering articulated bodies is tiring. I had someone asking me about body matches for some of the older Steven/Ken dolls. Mattel still hasn't really done an articulated body for those dolls.

  2. You're welcome, Ms. Leo.

Is he on a normal or slim body? Normal.

Is the face basically Fashionista Ken #130? No, it is not.

Does the head have a new sculp number/year since the hair is different than Fashionista Ken #130? This doll has a new head sculpt. He is not Fashionista #130. His nose is fuller and the lips are shaped differently than Fashionista #130. His head is marked ©2022Mattel.

So he is a new Ken complexion? I haven't seen another Ken-size doll with this complexion. So, I would say it is new for this size doll. I added a comparison photo of this doll and Robyn from the Barbie Dolls in the City Kiosk set. I believe Jackson and Jayla also have this complexion and possibly two of the Kelly-size dolls.
