Woman Needs Help with Black Baby Doll from Childhood

Who is this approximately 9- to 12-inch tall mystery circa 1970s-1990s vinyl and cloth baby doll?

Do you recognize the doll (its name and maker) in the photos provided by a woman who owned it as a child? 

The woman as a 1-1/2-year-old child holds the mystery baby doll.

These photos were taken in 1991, but the woman's mother thinks the doll might have been purchased from a thrift store and could date back to the 1970s. (It appears to be from the 1980s-1990 to me.)

Further description from the former owner notes it had a white cloth body and plastic (vinyl) head, hands, and feet. "I feel like her hand position and the size of her feet are unique as well as the placement of her ears and some of her features," she wrote. She is not sure about the doll's height. (Between 9 and 12 inches tall is my estimate.)

These are the best pictures and the only information provided. 

I've checked my doll references and consulted other collectors for help. I was granted permission to share the photos to ask the general doll-collecting community for identification help. Please use the comment section to offer leads and/or the doll's definite ID. The woman would like to replace her childhood doll that she "carried everywhere..." Thank you in advance!

I found the white version of the mystery doll. It's Baby Dear by Cititoy, copyright 1989. I shared this info with the woman seeking her childhood doll.

Ken Clone -- Who Am I?

Unknown Ken clone

The clone collector in me wanted this guy when I saw him in a buy it now on eBay.  I kept hope alive that he would not be a plastic dollar store-type doll.  I am relieved because he is not.


Height:  12 inches tall
Hair:  Black molded, side swept 
Eyes:  Unevenly painted brown
Mouth:  Open smile with painted area for teeth  
Material/Pose-ability:  The head is firm vinyl.  The arms and body are rigid plastic.  The legs are a soft, rubbery vinyl with knees that do not click.  He has an articulated waist and is jointed in the standard areas:  neck, arms at shoulders, upper legs at hip.

He has molded-on briefs.


I attempted to capture images of  his barely visible neck marking, which appears to read Fair---ator ? (maybe):

Update: I was informed that this guy is the AA male in the 3-figure set by Jakks Pacific, originally dressed as a scuba diver in their 1999 Camp Set.

I was later informed, "You own a clone figurines vintage Fairland Toy 12, we used the Ken Dance Magic head mold from 1989 to make it, this clone is extremely rare and I have one too and he is bearded."

Therefore, the final decision is that this doll, with the only visible neck mark being "fair," is a clone of Fairland Toy 12. The Ken Dance Magic head mold from 1989 was used to create it.

Who Am I? The Netherlands Doll Find

I received the following inquiry with images seeking help identifying the doll head shown.  I could not identify the head and asked permission to share the images here.

I saw your website about your black doll collection. I am from The Netherlands and I bought the head of black doll on a market without a body. It’s made of paper [mache]. I looked for more information about this doll, but I can’t find anything. Do you [know] more about this doll? Can you can give information about this doll?
