Black Dolls Exhibition Souvenirs

Gifts and souvenirs from the Black Dolls exhibition at the New-York Historical Society

Doll-friend, Romona Jennings, sent several souvenirs and items purchased at New-York Historical Society's Black Dolls exhibition. She included a note that reads:

Ms. Garrett—A token of my appreciation for your leadership, knowledge, and bringing Black doll collectors together.

Romona
The items are:
  • A Harriet Tubman string doll keychain by Kamibashi (kamibashi.com)
  • A magnet that features an image of a doll made by formerly enslaved Harriet Jacobs between 1842-1853 for white children
  • Three postcards featuring dolls in the exhibition
  • A canvas tote bag with the Black Dolls logo on front
  • A sew-your-own Sojourner Truth doll designed by Maritere Mix (www.sewcialstudies.org)
In lieu of taking separate photos of these items, I created the following video.

Thank you, again, Romona for these thoughtful gifts!
