Enchanted Styles on Instagram and Etsy designs and sells elegant fashions for Barbie and similar-sized dolls.

I've followed Enchantedstyles on Instagram for quite some time and have admired the elegant fashion design offerings. I recently purchased a Barbie fashion from the Elegantstyles Etsy shop.

The fashion ensemble

The beautifully presented fashion ensemble arrived swiftly after the purchase packaged in a transparent gift box that was perfectly protected during shipping inside a corrugated box. 

The dress, two pairs of shoes, and matching earrings were included.

Each ensemble piece was attached to the liner of the plastic box and included a geometric-print dress designed to fit Curvy Barbies, two pairs of shoes (I only expected to receive one), and drop bead earrings. I hesitated to disturb the perfect presentation and left everything untouched until I determined which doll it would grace.

The dress and earrings are as well-made as I had imagined.

After recently sharing photos of my Curvy Barbies in a Facebook group, I reviewed the photos to help me decide which doll would get new clothes. Being curvy with high-heeled feet and already unboxed were the only requirements for the chosen doll.

I chose deep-complexioned BMR1959 Barbie from the first wave and Barbie Looks  Model #2, Elle, to model the ensemble before making a final decision.

The turquoise shoes could not fit either doll. Barbie Looks Model #2 wears the lovely dress with the black shoes that were included in the package. I added the black clutch that I made a few years ago from a leather glove.

Next, BMR1959 Barbie models the ensemble with a different pair of black shoes which are shown in this photo with a close-up in the next.

This is a close-up of the black shoes that BMR1959 Barbie chose to wear with the dress.

It was a hands-down decision that BMR1959 Barbie wears it better.

Barbie Looks Model #14 close-up

Of the five dolls received for my birthday, Barbie Looks #14 is the only one I have deboxed. Photos of this lovely doll alone are shown above. Photos of the doll with other Barbie Looks dolls in my collection are shared below.

From L-R are Barbie Looks dolls #2, #4, #7, #10, and the newest doll to my collection, #14.

Barbie Looks #2 and #14 share the same head sculpt (known as Elle by Barbie collectors).

The shared head sculpt between Looks #2 and #14 is where the similarity ends. #2 is on a Curvy Barbie body, has a lighter brown complexion, and has an Afro hairstyle. #14 is on a Tall Barbie body. She has a much deeper complexion, and her hair is styled in an Afro puff. Both dolls are striking.

Because the other ladies have pierced ears, Elle insisted on having hers pierced, too. Instead of the bold choice of earrings the others chose, this Elle opted for turquoise studs to match her color block top.

After Jon returned to his display area, the ladies posed for the above final photo. A beautiful representation of sisterhood, their beauty radiates.

Barbie Life in the City Lyla - Updated 11.25.22

Barbie Life in the City Lyla comes with a headset, album, album cover, laptop, and puppy.

After seeing Lyla's prototype photos on Facebook, I knew I wanted her. Target.com was the place to go to purchase. I waited a couple of days before completing the order because I am a sucker for free shipping, and it took me that length of time to recall something I needed that I could order with Lyla.

Why I am willing to purchase something extra to qualify for free shipping when I know full well that I am falling for the free-shipping hook is a question I can readily answer. I literally want to avoid shipping at all costs. Retailers know they will increase profits from customers who take advantage of the minimum purchase offer to qualify for free shipping. But oh well... I get the doll and other items I "need," so I'm not complaining. 

Lyla wears a graphic T-shirt (a boombox on a bed of roses). The T-shirt is paired with red/yellow/and black check leggings. Black Army-style boots, a silver-studded headband, and a matching silver bracelet complete her look. In addition to the accessories mentioned in the first caption, Lyla also has a blue backpack.

Lyla arrived swiftly. She's not out of the package yet, but I've taken some initial photos to share along with a few headshot comparisons between Lyla and other dolls whose facial structure is similar (the chiseled jawline, in particular).

Her brown puppy and a portion of her blue backpack are visible in this photo.

Head Shot Comparisons

Lyla and Claudette have a similar jawline. Claudette's cheekbones appear more defined, but this appearance might be caused by the different angles of their heads in these combined photos. Their nose and lip shapes differ.

Just to be sure of the differences, Lyla posed with another doll that uses the Claudette sculpt, BMR1959 Barbie GNC46. The differences noted above between the two head sculpts are again noted.

Lyla and Pazette's chiseled jawlines are similar; however, Lyla's face, nose, and lips are fuller.

Lyla is compared with Daya (Cheerful Check). Daya's face is fuller, but Lyla's nose and lips are fuller than Daya's. Daya's sculpt usually has an open smile with teeth.

This comparison was taken just to prove that Lyla doesn't look anything like Elle (Barbie Looks #2). These two use two different head sculpts.

Lyla reminds me of so many dolls, but I've concluded that she is a new sculpt with a personality all her own. I will free her soon.

06/30/22 Addendum

At the request of Black Angel, I've added an additional photo comparison below.

While the corners of their mouths curl up the same, I believe the top lips have a different shape. Lyla's top lip has a more outward protrusion than ZiZi's. Lyla's nose is also fuller. The eyes have a different shape. They are different dolls. ZiZi's head has a copyright of 2016. I am told that Lyla's head copyright is 2021. I'll confirm this after I remove her from the box. Per request of an anonymous comment on 11/24/22, the following photo is a Lyla and Simone comparison.

Lyla and Simone do not share the same head sculpt. The shapes of their noses and mouths differ. The corners of Lyla's lips are upturned while Simone's are not. Lyla's nose is slightly broader than Simone's. The tip of Simone's nose is thinner.

Barbie Looks Model #2

Barbie Looks Model #2

After a shipment delay that I had to approve through Amazon to indicate I still wanted Barbie Looks Model #2 shipped at a later-than-planned date, this doll finally arrived. She was well worth the wait, but changes between the Mattel-Amazon relationship to make ordering future dolls less frustrating are in order. 

The frustration in ordering this doll resulted from an uncertain release date (not knowing when Amazon would have the doll stocked) followed by an almost immediate sell-out after the doll became available (I checked their site multiple times daily before the doll was finally available to order). This was followed by the shipping delay mentioned above and the need to approve the order after it was delayed. (I ordered it, obviously, I still wanted the doll.) Mattel/Amazon, please do better.  

The back of the box illustrates the six dolls in the Barbie Looks collection. All have new face sculpts and different Made-to-Move bodies. I await #4's arrival, which has also been delayed.

Finally released, she flaunts her curves and ability to pose her multi-articulated body.

She wears a black spandex halter jumpsuit with silver metallic booties. I added a silver cuff bracelet and will add a pair of silver drop or hoop earrings later.

Although I am not a fan of the action-figure-looking elbow and knee joints, I like everything else about this doll—her dark brown  (unparted) Afro, her full facial features, eye makeup, and lip color are all aesthetically pleasing.

By the way, a doll stand and certificate of authenticity are included with Barbie Looks #2.
