Lizette Loves This One Better!

I was prepared to dress Rahel in her original Ethiopian dress after Lizette borrowed her school fashion earlier today. Before I could get Rahel dressed, Lizette indicated she wanted to try on Rahel's Ethiopian dress, "just for size," she said.  After rolling my eyes at her and sighing, I permitted her to try it on.

Essentially Lizette is redressed in Heart 4 Hearts Rahel's original Ethiopian fashion (and loves it, too)!
Rahel's school fashion was indeed temporary for Lizette. She prefers the Ethiopian dress (which is actually a yellow body suit and crimson woven wrap skirt).  Rahel was very sweet about sharing and said, "I don't mind.  I like my school uniform better anyway."

I added a pair of tiny gold hoop earrings to complete Lizette's new, more permanent look.

Hearts for Hearts Girls, Rahel

Hearts For Hearts Girls Rahel
Having arrived during the last week of June, Rahel is no longer on my wish list thanks to my BDFF (best doll friend forever).  I just love her too-cute face and her big brown eyes.  Even more than that, I adore her huge Afro.

Representing Ethiopia, Rahel is dressed in a gold bodysuit, burnt orange full-length wrap skirt, tan faux leather sandals, yellow gemstone dangle earrings, and multiple strands of colorful beads and bracelets.  Her accessories include a book that tells her story, a girl-sized Hearts for Hearts necklace, a wide-toothed comb, and a special code that unlocks the owners membership in the Hearts for Hearts Girls online community.

Rahel received the customary photo shoot and also found a BFF in Nora, the doll I incorrectly thought shared the same face mold.   Photos follow.

The back of box illustrates the other Hearts for Hearts Girls that represent girls from other lands.

Deboxed and free; Rahel is all vinyl and stands 14 inches tall.

Rahel and BFF Nora by Paolo Reina of Spain could be sisters as well as BFFs.  Nora is a little over an inch shorter.
Thanks again, DR.

On My Doll Wish List...

Hearts For Hearts Rahel from Ethiopia

...I've been patiently waiting for the Hearts For Hearts Girls to surface at my local Target.  They may never, which will force me to order online.  Amazon.com's price of $29.99 and free shipping is tempting.  I may have to take the plunge and order Rahel soon.

In addition to Rahel from Ethiopia, dolls from other lands are included in the line.  Dell (USA), Lilian (Belarus), Nahji (India), Tipi (Laos), and Consuelo (Mexico)... there's a doll or two for every little (or big) girl.

According to the manufacturer's description, "Each doll is a girl that wants to make a difference in her life and community. When you buy a Hearts For Hearts Girls doll, a portion of the purchase price is donated to children's causes in those countries through World Vision, a global humanitarian organization."

Little girls appear to enjoy these multicultural, 14-inch vinyl dolls and their concept.  Watch the making of the Hearts For Hearts video here. See all the dolls here.
