Toys R Us-Exclusive President 2000 Barbie

President 2000 Barbie uses the Asha head sculpt.

My recent obsession over past President Barbies is obvious. I have purchased three dolls/doll giftsets since presidential hopeful, Kamala Harris, was nominated as the 2024 Democratic candidate. I remain optimistic that she will win. 

This doll was sold only at Toys R Us.

The most recent addition to my President Barbie collection is a Toys R Us-exclusive doll released in 1999. This doll's complexion closely matches Kamala Harris's complexion. She has curled-under shoulder-length rooted dark hair with bangs, brown painted eyes, a smiling/open mouth with red lip color, and wears a two-piece royal blue satin skirt-suit, blue sheer hose, blue pumps, a pearl necklace and earrings. 

An extra dress and shoes are attached to the box liner.

Extras include a full-length sleeveless satin red gown trimmed in white at the neck and empire waist with a centered waist ribbon and red pumps, a Girls Inc. Girls' Bill of Rights sticker, a hairbrush, cardboard pennants, a doll-size nonadhesive bumper sticker, and a leadership flyer.

President 2000 Barbie was part of The White House Project, "to create a world in which any woman can rise to the highest level of leadership, including President of the United States...." as indicated on the back of the box.  Mattel pledged to donate $20,000 to the White House Project when this doll was released. Thank you very much for your support during this important presidential race. We know you care about health, fitness and education issues. Your voice counts and so does your vote; that's why I'm standing before you as a candidate for President of the United States of America - and with the nations' support, a leader for the 21st century. 

... I hope that one day you, too, will be able to declare yourself a candidate for U.S. President. Follow your dreams and reach for the top!

I remain hopeful and confident that VP Kamala Harris will receive our nation's full support and be elected the first female President of the United States this November. We need a president to govern and create policies to benefit all Americans with the political experience, mental and emotional intelligence, integrity, strong moral compass, and other  qualities of a great leader that Kamala Harris possesses.
