Coming to a Collection Near Me

Premiere Adèle Makéda, Integrity Toys 2001

I just ordered online the premiere Adèle Makéda doll from 2001 by Integrity Toys.  Unless the last one shown in stock is not available, Adèle should arrive soon.  I look forward to seeing this doll, described as a "sexy, sophisticated... strong willed... exotic beauty!"

Adèle will arrive dressed in her original black satin lingerie set. Whether I redress her or not will be determined after she arrives.

Her interesting back story can be read here.

In 2001, fashion dolls were low on my list of dolls of interest, and I did not like this head sculpt when first released.  Opinions are allowed to change, especially where dolls are concerned.

  1. Hello from Spain: I'm looking forward to seeing your Adèle Makeda. You have to post pictures of this doll. To me it's a stylish doll. I like. We keep in touch.

  2. She is a gorgeous doll. I didn't like her initially either, but decided to get a doll show because of her price. She is quite a beauty in my opinion now. Congratulations on getting her.

  3. Thank Marta and GG.

The price is what encouraged me to go ahead and purchase; that plus the facts that the seller only had one left in stock and this is the first Adele.

  4. I have collected Integrity dolls of colors almost exclusively since 2004. Close-up Adele, who is now on a tall body, has been in my collection for at least seven years. She is one of two dolls who always has a place of honor in my collection. Enjoy, she is a real beauty.

  6. Wow, she looks completely different from the versions I'm used to seeing. Is your lady articulated or you don't know yet? I was all set to buy a RuPaul until I figured out it wasn't articulated.

    1. Hi Muff,

Integrity did change Adele's head sculpt shortly after the premiere doll. I'd have to do some research to find out how many dolls or years this sculpt was used. The Adele Dollwiki appears to be gone.

Her knees are articulated. Hopefully her arms are, too.

I considered getting RuPaul from Integrity Direct, but decided against because I would have to rebody. The fashions of the two that remain are probably worth the price. I would have prefered the denim, but that one sold out first.

  7. Thanks, Misty.

Maybe you know how many Adeles use this head sculpt. If so, please share. Thanks, again.

    1. Nine dolls used the original Adele sculpt. The first articulated Adele was Via Veneto which used the original sculpt. IT's first attempt at articulated dolls were not fully articulated. The first fully articulated Adele was Urban Antoinette which uses the second Adele sculpt. Last year Adele got a third sculpt.

This is on of the best IT reference sites:http://woodsky.free.fr/LBX/listeFR.html

    2. Thanks, Misty for this additional information and for this wonderful Jason Wu doll reference list. I have it bookmarked.

I did receive confirmation from the doll shop, so Adele is definitely coming to town to join my three others.

I am not a fan of the plastic surgery IT gave Adele last year with the third sculpt, but who knows, down the line she may grow on me. It just bothers me when companies use the same name but give the doll a completely new look all together. Such extreme changes warrant a new name/ID in my opinion. Adele Makeda Main Event is an example.

  8. Congratulations on getting this Adele!

I didn't like either the first Adele or the first Veronique dolls when they first came out - shrug. I prefer the later face molds for her. My guess is that there are two Adele molds? I didn't get interested in the FR dolls until the Something Sexy Adele was made.

    1. Thanks for the congrats, D7ana!

To date IT has used three head sculpts for Adele (as noted by Misty).

  9. Congrats on adding this beauty to your collection :O) I lov this lady so much I have 2. I rebodied on on a newer body and her sistr remains on her original body. Like Misty said just the knees are articulated on Ms One. I loved this face because it screamed Naomi Campbell. I love some with the 2nd face. The 3rd face I have 2 that I love including Main Event. I call the newest version Carmen since Adele she's not for me ;O)

    1. Thanks, Doz4Moi,

Adele arrived yesterday and I have yet to debox her along with another doll that arrived separately. Yet a third doll arrived the day prior to yesterday's two that I deboxed this morning. I need to slow down, but I can tell I'll be busy playing dolls this weekend.

      :-)
