I Got the Right One, Baby

This Xian Xian Supermodel with short, straight auburn hair is as she was upon arrival.

I received a refund from the China website whose merchant sent me the incorrect doll (seen on the right in this photo). I reordered the desired doll (shown above) from a different merchant on that site. She arrived this past weekend, wrapped in bubble wrap inside a thin plastic mailer, thankfully, without any issues.

This photo illustrates the extra articulation underneath the breasts, at the elbows, wrists, and at the knees.

This doll uses the same head sculpt as the Xian Xian (XX) Supermodel dolls shown here. The short, straight auburn hair and facial screening colors differ from my other XX dolls. I didn't think I would like the pink eyeshadow, but it isn't as evident in person as it is in some pictures.

Dressing Her

I didn't have anything in mind for her to wear, initially, and started to go with one of the original denim fashions purchased for my XX supermodels. Instead, I opted to create another Clueless-inspired look as illustrated in the next series of pictures.

She wears the crop top and shirt of a three-piece suit and black Barbie mules.

Her first close-up illustrates her pink eye shadow and pink lip color.

I Saran wrapped her hands before putting on the coat to prevent the stiletto fingernails from snagging the inside of the coat.

With the coat on, the look is almost complete.

This is her second close-up photo. Charge the blurriness of her right eye to the camera's flash.

With her bare legs covered with a pair of black fishnet stockings, the look is enhanced.

She needed a hat to complete the look, and this one did so after a few modifications.

The above hat was originally brown with a brown tulle floral accent, three gold beads, and a brown feather. I painted the hat black with a brown liquid eyeliner (that looks and acts like a felt-tip marker). I painted the brown flower black and added white acrylic paint in the center of each tulle petal for contrast. Lastly, I painted the three gold beads white.

I needed long drop earrings to add to her pierced ear lobes that her stiffened auburn hair covers, but none were available. So she remains earring-less until I find a suitable pair.

The Complete Look

Two full-length poses illustrate the total Clueless look.

I now have a total of five Xian Xian-marked dolls. They pose together in the last two photos.

Do I need a black-haired version of the new girl? Probably.

Xian Xian Doll 2

A boxed Xian Xian doll arrived from China with other items in this plastic mailer.

The doll's box was covered with a tight layer of styrofoam.

The styrofoam did not prevent damage to the box as illustrated here and in the next photo.

The top corner of the "Looks" box was crumbled during shipping.

The doll's name and skin color are included on the back of the box as "Supermodel doll" and "Black" respectively.

The doll was attached to a "Xian Xian Princess" printed red box liner. (The liner took some hits during shipping.)

Thankfully, this doll does not have the bent leg flaw that my first doll has.

Both dolls use the same head sculpt. This one's darker lip color makes her look slightly different. See the comparison photo later in this post.

I ordered these three mix-and-match fashions which include shoes as shown.

Denim Skirt Ensemble

The fishtail denim skirt ensemble includes a sparkly gold halter top with a gold neck chain, an aqua mock-tweed knit coat, aqua high heels, and dark sunglasses.

Supermodel Miya wears the complete denim skirt ensemble.

In this photo, the knit "tweed" coat is removed.

Knit "Tweed" Skirt Ensemble

The next ensemble includes an aqua mock-tweed knit jacket, matching skirt, and oversized cap with a white cotton crop top, and a larger denim purse with a gold bead and pearl shoulder strap.

Miya models the complete "tweed" knit skirt ensemble.

The "tweed" ensemble is modeled without the jacket.

Again, without the knit "tweed" jacket, Miya models the oversized cap, the COC logoed crop top, and the denim shoulder bag that has Xian Xian in red letters printed on the front.

Denim Pants Ensemble

The last fashion includes pleated baggy denim pants, a sparkly gold halter with yellow ribbon ties, an oversized white shirt, an aqua knit "tweed" hobo purse, a gold bead and pearl necklace/waist chain, and black slingbacks.

Miya models the complete denim pants ensemble.

To get Miya's hands through the small cuff holes, the hand was first wrapped with a plastic candy wrapper (that's what I had nearby without going to the kitchen to get Saran wrap). Without the plastic wrapping, her stiletto fingernails poked the fabric and thread inside the sleeves and cuffs.

The two Miyas are seen in a comparison photo. They share the same head sculpt. Braided-hair Miya's darker lip color gives her a slightly different (and better in my opinion) appearance.

The Two Miya Supermodels

Miya #2 continues to wear the aqua knit "tweed" suit while Miya #1 wears the denim fishtail skirt because of its maxi length to cover the bent leg issue.

Miya #1 mixed and matched some of the accessories with the denim skirt as illustrated next.

The denim skirt is worn with a gold halter, and the Xian Xian denim purse is held backward to hide the XX logo. Gold stud earrings complete this look.

Here, the denim skirt is worn with black slingbacks.

Miya chose to replace the slingbacks with black open-toe high heels.

In this last photo, the necklace/waist chain is worn as a waist chain to add some pizzazz to the denim skirt fashion.

I am pleased with the 2nd Xian Xian Supermodel's lip color and the braid quality. Will I order the third doll with curly hair? Probably not. These two are enough.

XianXian Fashion Supermodel Miya

In a post about dolls I received or purchased for myself for Christmas, I shared photos of a XianXian (pronounced she-ann she-ann) fashion doll that arrived the day after Christmas. In that post, I promised to share more pictures of the fashion doll. This is that post.

Miya arrived from China in a plastic mailer, only protected by bubble wrap. There is at least one scratch underneath the breastplate and some surface discolorations on the side of one leg (possibly machine-generated or sealant-generated), but the worst flaw is the bend in the doll's lower right leg. After finding shoes that fit the doll's larger-than-Barbie's-feet but smaller than most recent Integrity Toys' dolls' feet, I took the following photos of Miya.

The Flaws and the Feet

The upper part of the leg is rigid plastic while the lower leg below the knee joint is soft vinyl, similar to 1980s-1990s Barbies' full legs. The ankle area of the right leg is bent inward as illustrated in this photo.

Miya's right leg bend is also visible in this photo. I've tried manually bending it into the correct position to no avail.

This photo illustrates the ill fit of the shoes I found. The length is good, but the doll's arch is above the insole, which is not a major problem.

A foot length comparison between Miya and Barbie Fashionista #156 illustrates Miya's longer foot length and higher arch.

Another possible machine-generated flaw and manufacturer's poor quality control is a small plastic protrusion on the side of the left hand. I have since snipped most of this off with a toenail clipper. The rest requires sanding smooth.

Articulation

Miya has the usual five points of articulation plus the extra articulation described below.

Miya has the usual five points of articulation with additional articulation under the breasts, at the waist, elbows, wrists, and knees. The elbow and knee joints were a bit stiff until I gingerly manipulated these areas.

Clothes

I dressed Miya in a two-piece vest-style top and a pencil skirt.

I placed pearl map pins with short stems into the pre-pierced earlobes.

(This doll reminds me of the late singer/actress Barbara McNair seen in the inserted photo.)

Pretty much feeling great about herself despite the flaws, Miya struck this pose.

Comparisons

A height comparison with the now-redressed Barbie Fashionista 156 illustrates only a slight difference.

Compared to Fashionista Barbie #180 which uses the Tall Barbie body there remains only a slight height difference.

Miya appears to be a full inch taller than BMR1959 curvy-bodied Barbie.

These three divas—Miya, Midnight Orchid YaYa (by JHD), and Slay All Day Keeki Adaeze (by Integrity Toys)—are about the same 12-1/2-inch height.

Miya has unpainted stiletto fingernails. The two other dolls in this comparison photo, Keeki and YaYa, have painted stiletto fingernails.

Confession

While I was disappointed by Miya's flaws, after watching a XianXian YouTube video review by Elastic Planet 21 and seeing the other two dolls in actual online photos, I ordered one more XianXian supermodel from a different seller whose shop link is provided in the video description.
