...black Barbie, that is. Several online retailers are taking preorders for Mattel's reproduction of the first black Barbie (blogged about here in a March 28, 2009 entry). In celebration of her 30th anniversary, Mattel is reproducing the first black doll given the name Barbie. The doll retails for around $50 and comes with a so-called 80's inspired, white tuxedo-looking costume. I like the doll but the extra outfit... not so much! Because I own the original, it is highly doubtful that I will purchase the reproduction, but the jury is still deliberating.
