So In Style: Locks of Looks!

The new So In Style doll line, Locks of Looks, should be widely available by the end of this month.  I was able to find and gain permission from Allison Harman of AngelicDreamz.com to use the above images of the actual dolls, photographed by Gorge Gonzalez, owner of AD.  The dolls are currently in stock there.  At the time of publication, I found available an Amazon.com listing without an image for Grace and Courtney.

The dolls' storyline involves the girls' attendance at an Atlanta hair show where they actually become show participants in the absence of the show's scheduled hair models.  In the AA community hair stylists and hair shows are almost synonymous.  These dolls were inspired by this cultural event.  To authenticate the theme, Mattel cleverly partnered with Bronner Bros, Inc., one of a few remaining African American-owned manufacturers of beauty products.  So In Style Locks of Looks accessories include haircare products that bear the Bronner Bros logo and extra hairpieces for "locks of looks" play.

For S.I.S. Chandra fans, like me, you may be disappointed that Chandra and little sis, Zahara, are not included in the Locks of Looks line, but they are scheduled to return this fall.  More about that line later.

  1. I just saw the Grace combo in my Walmart yesterday. I didn't really look at the Bronner Bros. accessories. If they have good accessories I may consider getting the Kara combo. That little girl is the only one I don't have in my collection.

Can you find out what's going on with Darren? Or better yet, is there an AA Male Fashionista on the horizon? This task is on my Assistants list, but I figured I would start delegating her task to some of my friends until she arrives. Thanks.

  5. I hope you can find them there, too, Jorge. You're welcome! They would be even nicer with articulated joints.
